🚨 Scream 5 🚨
A new Scream film has been confirmed for quite some time now with a release
date of (14/01/2022), with members of the original cast coming back to reprise
their roles (Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Marley Shelton) along with a newer, younger generation of actors. However, after a
recent virtual Scream reunion hosted by Looped, Kevin Williamson (screenwriter
of Scream 1, 2 and 4 and executive producer of the upcoming Scream 5) revealed
that the ORIGINAL Ghostface mask (left image) from the first Scream film, worn by presumably
Billy Loomis to kill Tatum Riley will be worn by the NEW killer in
Scream 5 (right image) and will look battered and will have definitely seen
better days!!! This is a marmite decision as the Scream fandom will likely split into 2 groups: the purists, which love the pure white mask and think it shouldn't be messed or tampered with and the new bloods which grew bored of the same old mask we've seen for 4 films and are excited for something new. I fall in the middle of these 2 groups as I love the iconic look of the classic Ghostface, but I am also looking forward to a fresh feel which will help set this killer/killers apart from the previous incarnations. It is clear to me this film's aim is to breathe new life into the franchise while still appealing to its core audience by paying tribute to the previous movies. Personally, I think this is the best way to do it.
This is super exciting for me as this is my favourite slasher franchise of all
time and it seems Scream 5 will really pay homage to the original movies which
should help to give this new film the magic which made the originals so so
good!! 👏🎥
